Somersaults Review and Giveaway

The Somersault Snack Co. generously sent me a box of their amazing snacks. We are already big fans of Somersaults but we had not been able to try all the different varieties and were therefore so excited to be able to do a review and a GIVEAWAY

Look at this beautiful box! If you would like to win a box of your own enter my giveaway at the bottom of this post!

We already love our Pacific Sea Salt Somersaults but were amazed by the variety! There really is a flavor for every taste:
Savory ~ Salty Pepper, Pacific Sea Salt and Santa Fe Salsa and
Sweet ~ Dutch Cocoa and Cinnamon Crunch

I love these individual packs and will make sure to stock up on those before our next longer car trip, picnic or museum outing. Handy and Healthy!

So why do you ask do I love these snacks so much? Well first of all I love that these snacks are all natural and made with sunflower seeds. Sunflower seeds have 50 % more protein then many other nuts like almonds, walnuts or pecans but only half the fat and six times more Vitamin E. They are also high in folate and even have more fiber than an apple. What does all this mean for you?
Somersaults snacks have 6g of Protein per serving, no cholesterol, are a great source of fiber and vitamin E and are nut free and delicious!

As you can see we love Somersaults and use them nearly every day in our snack boxes, lunch boxes and even on the go!

And how do these amazing Sunflower seed snacks taste? In one word: yummy!

We already love the Pacific Salt ones for their nutty and slightly salty taste and the ability to stop your snacking urge with just 14 pieces and under 150 calories!

So we were eager to try all the other varieties as well and we love them all! Salty Pepper has spice and taste great by themselves or with cheese, yum! Sante Fe Salsa has that zing I crave on those cold rainy fall afternoons and a have great salsa flavor! My kids' favorite Dutch Cocoa and Cinnamon Crunch are slightly sweet but still have the nutty goodness of a healthy snack. Hands down our savory favorite is the Pacific Sea Salt and our sweet favorite was Dutch Cocoa, mhm, mhm, good!

I even shared some with my neighbors who were instant fans of the Somersaults Dutch Cocoa and Cinnamon Crunch - just in case you did not believe me ;)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Schools are opening today again after Hurricane Sandy with a delay but they are opening and so we packed lunch - one more Halloween lunch for everybody :)

We packed popcorn, applesauce, a German dye-free candy, a cereal bar, Somersaults Cinnamon Crunch Crackers in our Mini Dippers and two peanut butter sandwiches decorated with seaweed and grape jelly - I was still working from my hurricane stash and had not been able to go to the store for any fresh food :)

I just used my nori punches to punch the shapes of the eyes and mouth and glued them to the bread with grape jelly. The cheeks on the bat sandwich are dots of grape jelly as well - I also added a spider ring and a Frankenstein Pop Up from the Party Store.

Everybody got the same lunch but I personlized them with the spider rings, Pop Ups and some Cupckake picks I had.

The kids loved seeing all the different fun things in their lunch today :)

Boo!

Same lunch as above. I was surprised that I was even able to put together a Haloween Lunch with the limited choice of food we had but since we had a 2h delay everyone helped :)

My youngest son even picked two different spiders to make it extra creepy ;)

EEK!

Despite the storm my First Grader has a little Halloween Part at school today and I packed him a special snack box with all dye-free foods so he can participate in the celebration.

He chose more popcorn, Italian Cocoa Cookies, Organic chocolate chip cookies and a special German Hazelnut wafer. he loved putting more ghosts, spiders and of course a monster in his special lunch box.

Happy Halloween!

Be Safe tonight and Have Fun!

Smoergasbord - or how we made lunch by having everyone add something to the lunch

I had no idea what theme to pack or what to pack for lunch at all this morning but my kids came to the rescue! They all helped pick one or two things to go in the lunchboxes and that is how we ended up with this kind of Smoergasbord for lunch, lol.

Today's lunch is apples and grapes, veggie sticks, four mini sunflower seed spread sandwiches, sunflower seeds and sunflower seed cookies in a muffin cup, a mini yogurt and a half a cereal bar.

Snacktime with LunchBots

This year my fifth grader will only have 20 min for lunch which - compared to Europe where kids have up to one hour for lunch - is very little. Thankfully the class is allowed to bring snack and now I am sending a bigger snack and a smaller lunch so there is still time to socialize at lunch and he eats enough during the day! I remembered that I won a LunchBots Trio a little while ago from Bobbi's Bentos and I knew that it would be the perfect size for a big mid-morning snack.

My son was thrilled with the LunchBots container and picked his own snack today: Somersaults sunflower seed nuggets, veggie sticks and an apple and SunButter sandwich, yum!

Happy TGIF!
We survived the first week of school ;)
