Throw (together) & Go Lunches

We have been running late in the morning all week and the result has been quick "Throw (together)&Go" Lunches. Today was no exception and with 5 min to spare lunches were literally packed on the fly with no Friday in sight yet...

A quick Throw&Go Lunch in our Easylunchboxes: Goldfish, apple sauce and a pepperoni and salad sandwich with Spiderman stamp. They also packed water and yogurt.

Another on the fly lunch in Easylunchboxes with Goldfish, apple sauce and bus peanut butter sandwiches. Yogurt and ice water was packed as well :)

We made similar sandwiches yesterday:

A quick and easy Captain America Lunch with apple sauce and Goldfish and...

...an equally fast Hulk and Captain America Lunch with Naturebox Cranberry Energy Bites and grapes with a tangerine. Fast & easy but still fun :)

Happy National PB Day!

Today is National Peanut Butter Day and for us a snow delay day, woohoo!
Of course the kids wanted to help celebrate with Peanut Butter Sandwiches:

My fifth grader packed a peanuts, pretzel, sesame stick and chocolate snack mix, half an apple and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich decorated with pieces of the snack mix and a winter hat cupcake topper in his Easylunchbox lunch box. I even found the perfect Lunchbox Love Note for today! I am nuts about you!!

My second grader also packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in his yubo lunch box , a peanut butter cereal bar, vanilla yogurt, some mini dark chocolate chips and Naturebox Orange Crush granola to sprinkle on the yogurt, yum! Of course, he has a Lunchbox Love Note as well!

My youngest son packed a Lunch Punch peanut butter sandwich, apples and strawberries and the same snack mix as his brother. Because it is a snow delay day all boys got to bring an organic chocolate milk to school as well.

I linked my lunch to the linky over at BentOnBetterLunches:

Winter Lunches

When we woke up this morning frost was covering everything. It looked so pretty glistening in the sun. The sign that winter is on it's way and of course I made lunches to match:

My 10 year old packed lunch in his Easylunchboxes:

A Ham and Salad sandwich, cucumber slices and two Cucumber Christmas trees, snack mix with nuts and a cereal bar and as always an ice water and a yogurt drink.

My 7 year old chose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with star shaped cut outs, cucumber slices and veggie sticks. Packed as well with ice water and a yogurt drink.

My 6 year old has a fairy bread chocolate spread sandwich, snack mix and cucumbers in addition to his ice water and yogurt drink.

I also packed my 10 year old a snack in our Lunchbot Trio: a half a banana with stars (I just simply pressed my mini cookie cutter into the banana and it made a design), cucumbers with more Christmas trees and some more snack mix.

Have you noticed that I am stuck between peanut butter and chocolate spread sandwiches? I sure do. So we announced this morning that those two choices are gone and we are packing some other foods next week. Their response: Excitement! They already chose grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for tomorrow - so stay tuned!

What do you think? Would you like to participate in a one week no peanut butter/Nutella/almond butter/ chocolate spread challenge and post your lunches on my Facebook page to keep each other motivated?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Schools are opening today again after Hurricane Sandy with a delay but they are opening and so we packed lunch - one more Halloween lunch for everybody :)

We packed popcorn, applesauce, a German dye-free candy, a cereal bar, Somersaults Cinnamon Crunch Crackers in our Mini Dippers and two peanut butter sandwiches decorated with seaweed and grape jelly - I was still working from my hurricane stash and had not been able to go to the store for any fresh food :)

I just used my nori punches to punch the shapes of the eyes and mouth and glued them to the bread with grape jelly. The cheeks on the bat sandwich are dots of grape jelly as well - I also added a spider ring and a Frankenstein Pop Up from the Party Store.

Everybody got the same lunch but I personlized them with the spider rings, Pop Ups and some Cupckake picks I had.

The kids loved seeing all the different fun things in their lunch today :)

Boo!

Same lunch as above. I was surprised that I was even able to put together a Haloween Lunch with the limited choice of food we had but since we had a 2h delay everyone helped :)

My youngest son even picked two different spiders to make it extra creepy ;)

EEK!

Despite the storm my First Grader has a little Halloween Part at school today and I packed him a special snack box with all dye-free foods so he can participate in the celebration.

He chose more popcorn, Italian Cocoa Cookies, Organic chocolate chip cookies and a special German Hazelnut wafer. he loved putting more ghosts, spiders and of course a monster in his special lunch box.

Happy Halloween!

Be Safe tonight and Have Fun!

Look who's driving to School!

It is a dreary rainy Tuesday morning here and while I was in the kitchen making lunches my 5 year old came running in excited that we would have to drive to school because of the rain. He was so excited and so I decided to make him a "We are driving to School today" lunch.
I packed Veggie sticks, oranges and apples, no-bake energy bites as the tree trunk and spinach leaves for leaves and a LunchPunch peanut butter car.

I really love these picks and my son laughed when he saw his lunch because he thought it looked like him driving the car :)

Stay dry today!

Kids' Lunch Pick

I love when my kids want to help make their lunches and we had a great time yesterday picking themes and decorations. It all started when my daughter found a bento pick that looked just like Miffy and wanted a "Princess holding Miffy" Lunch. You can see her lunch here. The boys were just as creative and we ended up with four amazing lunches yesterday.

The first lunch was designed by my 5 year old son who picked a steam boat, a dog, a boy and a saxophone.

He packed some watermelons with a steamboat pick, whole grain crackers with peanut butter with a dog pick and a big peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the boy and saxophone pick. He told me he remembered being on vacation this summer where he loved riding on the steamboat and visiting the free concert series at night listening to Jazz. The dog is for our dog :)

My 9 year old plays the cello and was excited to find a cello pick in my collection.

He packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a cello and musical notes picks. He also picked cherries since they looked like notes and whole grain crackers with peanut butter with more notes. What a musical lunch :)

My 7 year old son had a great time picking through all my decorations and came up with a Safari Starwars Lunch.

He packed watermelons with a bear baran decoration, cheese crackers with peanut butter with a lion pick and a big peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a tiger and monkey pick, starwars light sabers and some cheese stars. The perfect Safari Starwars lunch :)

Last but not least my daughter's lunch:

She packed pretzels and cherries with crowns and a princess wearing a special dress holding a miffy doll. The sandwich is ham and cheese and the arms and stars are cut out of cheese.

I really enjoyed having everyone in the kitchen and watch their imagination as they sorted through my cake and bento picks.

I feel so lucky to have such wonderful kids!

Farmer's Market

Today's lunch is very simple.
We had a Farmer's Market at my kids' school the other day and they helped pack some of the yummy food we bought there.

Packed today are organic farm strawberries, a fresh orange organic mini pepper, some veggie sticks and a farmer made out of fresh organic wheat bread. His face is decorated with candy eyes and a fruit leather mouth. We also packed yogurt and ice water :)

Happy Tuesday,

Lunch in a Box

The end of the school year is nearing and it seems the kids are getting more and more excited about the last lunchboxes of the year. Everyone wanted to plan their lunchboxes last night and think about what they wanted and how.

My 7 YO wanted a sandwich bento box with a jelly sandwich and a granola bar at the bottom (with a little bear and grass decoration) and a peanut butter and banana sandwich at the top. I also added a couple of dye-free yogurt pretzels and some grapes with - as he called it- M&M bento picks ;)

My 5 YO wanted a jeep or recycling truck sushi box. Yes, he asked for this and I had no idea and for sure not the skills to fulfill that wish. I ended up making three triangle rice shapes and set them on lettuce. I added cucumber skin for the window and recycling sign and cucumber slices and yellow mini tomatoes as wheels. For him, I also added a few yogurt pretzels, more garden cucumbers and an oat & brownie bar from Trader Joe's. I have a lot to learn but it was fun to make!

With a lot of imagination (especially with that of a 5 YO) you can make out the truck, lol.

My oldest wanted a homemade Lunchable and got Tortilla chips and Guacamole, some yogurt pretzels and a Pumkin Seed Ciabatta roll with butter and blackberry jam.

All three have ice water today and no additional food since today is a short day :)

Happy Wednesday!

Beary Happy Day!

Today is the last day before Spring vacation! Yay!
So I made Beary Happy Last Day Before Vacation Lunches :)

They all have peanutbutter and banana sandwiches on Whole Wheat bread cut out with a cookie cutter.
I also packed strawberries, peanuts and No-Bake Energy Bites. As always, they also brought yogurt and ice water and I hope they all have a great day!

I am not sure how much I will blog during Spring Vacation but I will definitely be back after next week :)

Happy Spring Vacation!
