Pool Lunches

We are experiencing a heat wave - like most of the country - and projected temperatures are in the triple digits. The kids want to head to the pool as early as possible and I am all in favor of fun and cool activity.

Heading to the pool in the morning also means we need lunch. For all 5 of us and possibly something more then a box of crackers. We brainstormed together and picked our Easylunchboxes for ease of packing in an assembly line.

Everybody helped put together the lunches and we kept is simple and uniform to be faster (we packed this lunch in 10 min!) and make it easier on little hands.

The result:

Our 5 Easylunchboxes are packed with:
  • cucumbers, carrots, grape tomatoes and radishes
  • Annie's Organic Snack Mix
  • 3/4 of a sandwich of choice (we packed peanut butter and jelly and cheese sandwiches)
  • and a small silicone cup with slice strawberries and a mini fork

We were able to fit all the lunches in two of our Easylunchboxes cooler bags which fit in my beach bag. So convenient!

Yum! We loved our pool lunches and this was so much healthier and nutritious then grabbing snacks from the snack cabinet.

Lunchbox Love Review and Giveaway

If you read my blog on a regular basis you know that we love our Lunchbox Love Cards!
My kids love reading them and I love that they bring them back home to show me the trivia on the back and we always have a great conversation starter after school!

A Lunchbox Love Card adds just a little extra love to your lunch and puts a smile on your child's face!

This is a very simple lunch in an Easylunchbox containing strawberries, Goldfish crackers and a Pepperoni sandwich but the Lunchbox Love card adds the special touch I couldn't add with picks or designs that morning!

There are so many different sets and I always find just the perfect card to say what I feel!
This card was absolutely perfect for the National Peanut Butter Day lunch I made!

Lunchbox Love Cards also have seasonal cards like sets for Christmas and Thanksgiving but also for Valentine's Day! Wouldn't it be fun to add a special Valentine's Lunchbox Love Card to your kid's or loved one's lunch? Find out how you can win some at the end of my post and
Make every day Valentine's day with Lunchbox Love!

I have been thinking about Valentine's Day a lot. Because I have 3 boys. In 1st, 2nd and 5th Grade and they have already told me: no smootchy, girly lunches for Valentine's Day!

So, I was standing in my kitchen trying to think of a way to pack a lunch or snack for Valentine's Day without red hearts, doilies and lip picks. And then I stumbled upon Susanne Kaluza's post about crackerbread and knew what I wanted to do:

I baked some heart shaped crackerbread (thanks for the inspiration Susanne!), made some hot and crispy oatmeal bars (recipe on the blog soon!), grabbed the delicious Eleanor's Apple Crumble snack mix from our graze box and a red pear (which are my kid's favorites right now. They are incredibly juicy and sweet!). I also added a chocolate heart (it is Valentine's Day afterall) and cut a small heart into the pear. I did sneak one heart pick in there but I think overall it is a very sweet and manly Valentine's lunch!

Our lunch is packed in an ECOlunchbox and of course I added a Lunchbox Love Valentine's Day card to finish the Lunch with Love :)

But now the exciting part:

Lunchbox Love Cards generously is offering you the chance to win some Lunchbox Love Cards of your own!

Lunch for my Girl

The new Easylunchboxes BRIGHTs are here and I could not resist to get a set since my daughter loves purple!

It also matches our new purple ELB cooler and apparently her new chapstick ;)

When you are three it is incredibly exciting when your lunch box matches your chapstick, right?

I even found a purple Lunchbox Love card and packed her a lunch in her new purple ELB and our new purple cooler! We packed some snack mix, strawberries and blueberries and a chocolate spread heart shaped sandwich. She also packed a thermos with milk and a yogurt since there was enough room in the new cooler for a thermos and cup of yogurt as well :)

One more word to the cooler. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the cooler. It looks very large on Amazon but in reality is not much bigger then a regular lunch bag!

It fits up to three Easylunchboxes (great for sporting events or car rides) or one Easylunchbox, a thermos, yogurt, ice pack and snack for every day packing.

I also love the short handle! Long enough to attach it to the backpack or carry it but not too long to be in the way!!

I will be getting more for us since they are so convenient and fold flat for storage when not in use!! Perfect if you have several lunch coolers and little cabinet space - like me :)

And here is where you can find both the BRIGHTs and the Easylunchboxes Coolers:

Happy National PB Day!

Today is National Peanut Butter Day and for us a snow delay day, woohoo!
Of course the kids wanted to help celebrate with Peanut Butter Sandwiches:

My fifth grader packed a peanuts, pretzel, sesame stick and chocolate snack mix, half an apple and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich decorated with pieces of the snack mix and a winter hat cupcake topper in his Easylunchbox lunch box. I even found the perfect Lunchbox Love Note for today! I am nuts about you!!

My second grader also packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in his yubo lunch box , a peanut butter cereal bar, vanilla yogurt, some mini dark chocolate chips and Naturebox Orange Crush granola to sprinkle on the yogurt, yum! Of course, he has a Lunchbox Love Note as well!

My youngest son packed a Lunch Punch peanut butter sandwich, apples and strawberries and the same snack mix as his brother. Because it is a snow delay day all boys got to bring an organic chocolate milk to school as well.

I linked my lunch to the linky over at BentOnBetterLunches:

Winter Lunches

When we woke up this morning frost was covering everything. It looked so pretty glistening in the sun. The sign that winter is on it's way and of course I made lunches to match:

My 10 year old packed lunch in his Easylunchboxes:

A Ham and Salad sandwich, cucumber slices and two Cucumber Christmas trees, snack mix with nuts and a cereal bar and as always an ice water and a yogurt drink.

My 7 year old chose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with star shaped cut outs, cucumber slices and veggie sticks. Packed as well with ice water and a yogurt drink.

My 6 year old has a fairy bread chocolate spread sandwich, snack mix and cucumbers in addition to his ice water and yogurt drink.

I also packed my 10 year old a snack in our Lunchbot Trio: a half a banana with stars (I just simply pressed my mini cookie cutter into the banana and it made a design), cucumbers with more Christmas trees and some more snack mix.

Have you noticed that I am stuck between peanut butter and chocolate spread sandwiches? I sure do. So we announced this morning that those two choices are gone and we are packing some other foods next week. Their response: Excitement! They already chose grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for tomorrow - so stay tuned!

What do you think? Would you like to participate in a one week no peanut butter/Nutella/almond butter/ chocolate spread challenge and post your lunches on my Facebook page to keep each other motivated?
