Lunch Munch

We were gone Monday and Tuesday to visit with family but this morning we are back and packing lunches, snacks and a second breakfast!

Also, this is the last day to enter my Lunchbox Love Giveaway! Don't miss it!

We packed popcorn, apples and a puzzle peanut butter sandwich for lunch. They also brought yogurt and ice water and today I also added a Lunchbox Love Card! Yay for left handed Polar bears :)

Lunch #2 also has popcorn, apples, yogurt and ice water but for my oldest I packed a nitrate free ham and salad sandwich. He also has a Lunchbox Love Card which gives a whole new meaning to the mini van ;)

We are so excited that our yumboxes came and packed our first lunch in it today. I packed my first grader some of the new Chobani Champions tubes, apple bunnies, Naturebox cinnamon almonds, two mini chocolate chip cookies, two bear peanut butter and honey sandwiches, carrots and a few chocolate chips. He also has ice water and of course a Lunchbox Love card. Well, and now we know that we will never see a crocodile sticking it's tongue out at us, lol!

Since we have to catch up on some things and run errands I also packed my 3 year old a yumbox with a second snack breakfast. She has cheese, apples, carrots, Naturebox cranberry almond bites and some nitrate free ham.

My oldest also needed a snack today so we packed apple bunnies, a cereal bar and Naturebox cashew power clusters in our Lunchbot Trio.

Have a great day!

Pardon my Light - there is a storm coming...

So there is a storm in the air - literally. While preparing and hoping it will not hit too hard we still have eat - so we are packing lunches even though schools are closed :) However, it was omnious and dark this morning - so please pardon the picture quality. Last year, we had no power for 11 days. Let's hope that will not happen this year >.<

Lunch was simple but still in the spirit of Halloween today. Chocolate spread bat sandwiches with little liquorice bats, a cereal bar and apples as well as honey crackers and an Italian cookie, Goldfish crackers and a chocolate spread Pumpkin.

I also used our new lunchboxes today but due to the poor lighting I will do my review next week :)
Packed in our Go Green Lunchbox are cheese and crackers, Chobani Champions Banana Honey yogurt, a pretzel roll with cold cuts, a cereal bar and apples and red oranges.

Boo!

Hoping the weather changes from rainy and dark to a beautiful colorful fall day to match :)

World Animal Day Blog Hop

Today is World Animal Day and Bento Bloggers & Friends are having an exciting Blog Hop!
We all picked a different animal to make today ~ click through the hop to see them all !

I picked a BEAR as my animal:

And here is the World Animal Lunch I made:

First I added some lettuce and my rice bear. The bear is made with rice and colored with soy sauce. I mixed about 1/2 cup of cooked rice with soy sauce until I was happy with the color. I added the rice to a piece of plastic wrap and shaped the head. I added thinly cut julienne style cucumbers with a tiny amount of salt and then folded them into the middle of the head of the bear. Then I made two small rice balls for the ears and added some white rice for his snout and also cheese and nori details to make his ears and face :)

I love the this tutorial from Moriazu on how to make a shaped onigiri!

After that I added the details: straw-bear-ries, Italian cookies, Enjoy Life Chewy On-The-Go Bars Cocoa Loco -- 5 Bars, pretzels to make a fence and cheese flower to go with my soy sauce flavored bear.

I hope you enjoyed my Bear Bento
and now please click on the blog hop button to see what animal Obento Momma picked!

Happy World Animal Day!

This is also my 100th post!

Fast Food

This morning I decide to make use of some of the other lunchboxes we own  because I forgot to run the dishwasher last night because it is fun to mix things up from time to time!

We own several of these neat Sistema containers!

For my oldest son I packed a BLT sandwich inspired by KeeleyMcGuire's lunch on Monday, a mini pepper, veggie sticks, a small container with Sunflower seed crackers, 1/2 apple and as a treat two Spanish cookies with marshmallows.

For my second grader I packed a fish shaped sandwich with cold cuts and salad, oranges, strawberries, Italian cookies and Spanish cookies.

And since my First Grader just got a new lunchbox from his Grandparents in Germany we of course used that one today, too!

He packed apples, oranges and strawberries as well as no bake energy bites, a few Spanish treats and a chocolate spread roll.

Now, if only it stopped raining...

Happy Hump Day!

Ruff-Ruff Bento

I had some rice left over from yesterday and decided to make bento boxes for lunch today!

I packed a rice ball shaped like a dog with nori accents and a carrot tongue, strawberry hearts and a jelly sandwich in the upper tier. In the lower tier I packed a cereal bar, cheese crackers and cinnamon cookies. I also packed ice water and popcorn today.

To make the dog I placed some rice in plastic wrap and shaped the head. Then I added the nori accents I had cut out earlier with sharp scissors. The tongue is a piece of carrot cut with a vegetable knife :)

Happy Monday!

Field Day Round Up

We have had one busy week packed with fun at school and at home. I haven't been able to blog their lunches and will do some round ups to catch you up:)

Here is our Field Day Round Up!

First off, my first grader had a field trip to a local farm to learn all about bugs. So, of course I had to do a bug themed lunch:

He brought ice water and a yogurt and we packed apple slices sprinkled with lemon juice and decorated with cute ladybug picks, veggie sticks with a chocolate lady bug treat and a Nutella sandwich on whole wheat bread decorated as a ladybug with melted chocolate and candy eyes :)

My fourth grader had a beach day at school with lots of fun in the water and sun, so his lunch is  beach themed:

He packed ice water and Guacamole dip (under the Babybel cheese) and whole wheat Tortilla chips, a babybel cheese, a pumpkin seed roll with butter and jelly, some cheddar-jack cheese and a chocolate chip cookie. The cute sea creature pick in his lunch are cupcake toppers from amazon.com :)

My Kindergartner had a field trip to the park today and had to pack a disposable lunch. Also, everything had to be labeled clearly, so I came up with this (for privacy I removed his name from all the containers with a photo program before posting but they were on there so he knew what was his :)

My son picked Doc McStuffins as a theme for today. So I went and printed out some pictures on sticker paper and added his name (removed) so his lunch would be properly labeled. We made a new label for his water bottle, carrying bag and lunch container.

I always save plastic containers for occasions like this and we found a great paper bag with handles and a fennel plastic container that snaps shut to redecorate  :)

I taped a disposable plastic spoon for apple sauce on the inside of the lid and added a napkin before adding his lunch to make it more fun!

He packed a 1/2  Nutella sandwich with melted chocolate decorations...

...grapes in a disposable plastic container, an apple sauce, a cereal bar and some oatmeal cranberry cookies. He also has his water bottle with the new label that I froze for a couple of hours this morning to keep it cold until lunch. All is packed in a paper bag and the frozen water bottle also will keep the lunch cool until they eat :)

Happy Monday and Happy Field Trips - if you still have some coming up!

Birthday Lunch

Today is my daughter's birthday and of course she wanted a special lunch. I made her a Nutella sandwich and used different sized glasses to cut a smaller and a bigger circle sandwich. Then I wrapped it in fruit strips to make it look like ribbon and decorated the sandwich with big sprinkles. I also packed green grapes and used these cute bento picks to create a garden. To make it look like the bees and ladybugs were in a garden I used pineapple leaves from a pineapple I bought yesterday to make it look like grass. To finish the birthday lunch I broke a popsicle stick in half and added each half to an Oreo cookie. And in the end, she had a birthday in a box :)
