• a treasure of chocolate gold coins
• Bucky the ship sandwich with cream cheese and jelly

The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School - a Literary Lunch

Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man.

Oh wait...
That is how the original story of the Gingerbread Man goes but in the new book from Laura Murray, the Gingerbread Man is actually loose in the school and trying to catch up to the kids at recess after they forgot him in the classroom.

This is such a fun book with a new twist on the Gingerbread Man story!

The Gingerbread Man is even trying to escape our Lunchbots lunchbox! So, before he escapes...we packed:

• a half an apple
• a gingerbread man peanutbutter sandwich on a seaweed black board with cheese decorations
• strawberries and
• a berry cereal bar with fruit leather letters

Happy Birthday, Roald Dahl! - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

September 13th marks Roald Dahl's 97th birthday. We love Roald Dahl's books in our house. The Fantastic Mr. Fox, James and the Giant Peach, The boy and of course Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are our favorites. Bento Bloggers and Friends is having a Blog Hop to celebrate so at the end of the post will be a link to an amazing bento blogger and her Roald Dahl inspired lunch!

To celebrate his birthday I packed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory lunch for my oldest son - since I knew he would appreciate it most - having recently seen the movie.

Our Easylunchboxes are packed to the rim with:

• red grape candies
• a Violet Beauregarde gluten free blueberry and coconut muffin with fruit leather arms
• of course a golden ticket sandwich filled with peanut butter and chocolate
• two pieces of candy
• grape tomato and cheese Oompa Loompas

The Banana Police

Do you love bananas? We do! And having recently read Katy Koontz's book The Banana Police I had to make another banana lunch!

This book is funny, has wonderful details and teaches the kids about the acceptance of others. I love that there is text on one side and a very detailed picture on the other side which entertained both my reader and non-readers. A great book for all ages! We keep finding new things every time we read it. And the banana consumption in our house is up by 500% thanks to this lovely book!

Our lunch is inspired but my kids' favorite page. They loved seeing all the ways the elephants were using to clean up the bananas. Even the Baby elephants were helping! You will have to read the book yourself to find out how the elephants became a big part of this town and why they are so many bananas in the picture! You can find a summary of the story here.

Lunch is packed in our Easylunchboxes and is packed with:

• banana pudding with baby banana slices
• banana bread muffins with sliced glazed bananas
• a baby banana
• a banana peanut butter and sliced banana Daddy and Baby elephant sandwich carrying cheese bananas to clean up the town. The sandwich is made with Lunch Punch and the added details are cheese and seaweed.

My son asked for onigiri and strawberries so I decided to make him a fun Panda themed lunch in our
